Band call for new recording of Dazzle - the musical

05 Oct 2011

The production team and band line-up for a new recording of Dazzle - the musical has been announced.

It includes top musicians frequently seen in the orchestra pits of London's West End musicals, among them Les Miserables, Joseph and Phantom of the Opera.

Performers for the Dazzle chorus will be provided by the well-known Carmel Thomas Youth Singers, who supply the singing talents for the London productions of Joseph, the Wizzard of Oz and other top West End shows involving children.

The result will be a pristine new pilot recording of the Limelight children's musical, plus broadcast quality backing tracks for use in future productions.

Heading the project are Mike Millsted (below right), executive producer, and Mark Rogers (below left), record producer and chief sound engineer, who will work alongside the shows’ composer and writer Andrew Bailey at the London studio.

Musical director is Brian Farley, who also arranged Dazzle's stunning new score.

Mike has previously produced and directed two Limelight shows, including the production of Dazzle at Emmanuel in South Croydon.

He also produced the highly successful Edinburgh staging of Limelight's Frank & Rosy.

Mark is a leading studio producer, having been senior engineer at the famed Studio One at London's Abbey Road Studios. He has also contributed as a musician to several previous Limelight productions.

Definitive recordings

Andrew Bailey said: “It’s a hugely exciting project. It's a privilege and very humbling to be working with such an outstanding creative team - musically and technically they are the cream of the crop and fantastic to work with."

He added: “The result will be a superb new pilot recording of Dazzle, giving directors and singers definitive renditions of the songs that we hope will inspire."

Recording will begin in October, with CDs available early in the New Year.

The band line-up for the recording is as follows:

Tim Kipling            Flute, Piccolo
Nicki Hutchins       Clarinet, Saxes, Flute
